Str8 Rippin continued their surprising run through the brackets with a thrilling 3 – 1 victory over FBI The Agency. Given the history between these two teams, with handfuls of former teammates squaring off, Pro Circuit fans were eager to see these two teams lock horns. While many thought the meeting would occur late in the Losers Bracket, an incredible victory over Carbon by Str8 Rippin forced an early Winners Bracket Semifinal meeting between these two squads.

Str8 Rippin, as they faced FBI The Agency

The match opened on Sanctuary, where Str8 Rippin logged the first capture of the game within two minutes. Seizing control of the power weapons, Tsquared and Elamite Warrior picked off FBI The Agency’s players, setting up a second capture. Str8’s extreme power weapon proficiency makes them a difficult team to deal with on Sanctuary. The Agency effectively held Str8 Rippin off during the middle of the match, keeping sniper rifles out of Str8’s hands. Gaining an edge in the BR battles, The Agency finally made a push into Str8’s territory in the final two minutes.

An aggressive run deep into the base by Halogod set The Agency’s first capture in motion. In the final minute of regulation, FBI put together a composed advance on Str8’s base, critically getting their hands on the flag with 15 seconds remaining. Minutes later, FBI The Agency looked to complete the dramatic comeback, but were thwarted by the single-handed efforts of Legit. Pushing in from The Agency’s sniper spawn, Legit downed two players (including the flag carrier) and moved to toss the Agency’s flag. With the effort, Str8 Rippin earned the series opening 3 – 2 victory.

Lockout Slayer saw an interesting split spawn, with players from each team spawning about the map. Str8 Rippin set up on BR Tower with a 9 – 3 lead. The snipe blew off the map early in the contest, as both teams traded spawns with long-range BR fire. Two minutes into the game, Str8 Rippin pressed across Top Glass to try and claim the new sniper spawn. Ultimately, this move proved to be their downfall, as they moved too early and not only failed to get the sniper rifle, but also lost their lead in the process. The Agency set up on sniper tower with the power weapon and steadily grew their lead. Pinning Str8 in BR tower, Naded once more used his high-arcing grenade to pick away at people perched in the library window. FBI took the match 50 – 39, led by Victory X’s 16 – 9 showing.

Game 3, Midship Oddball, was an all-out blood bath. Both teams applied relentless pressure, as the match took a tremendous pace. While the slaying tallies between the two teams were relatively even, Neighbor took the game for Str8 Rippin. He jumped into the role of primary objective carrier and used his tremendous awareness to rotate the ball around the map and earn precious time. As a team, Str8 Rippin applied incredible pressure to The Agency’s ball handlers, forcing them to drop the ball and fight instead of accumulating any objective time. Neighbor’s total of 2:30 of ball time earned the team a 5:00 – 3:07 victory.

Up 2 – 1 in the series, Str8 Rippin closed it out with an incredible Warlock CTF victory. Late in the game, the two teams found themselves tied at four captures each. Both teams managed to take the opposing flag, and Naded and Legit each set up on their respective lifts with the flag. Spectators in Chicago saw an amazing performance by each, as both Legit and Naded held off many opposing waves of attackers while protecting their own flag. Ultimately, a move by Elamite Warrior put him behind Naded, allowing him to land a critical assassination and return the flag.

Str8 Rippin advance to the Winners Bracket Finals to face Final Boss and have earned a guaranteed Top 3 finish, a season high.
