Carbon defeat Final Boss in the WB Finals!

Final Boss dropped their first series of the 2007 season just minutes ago when they faced off against rivals Carbon in the Winners Bracket Finals. Behind Karma’s incredible BR and some solid teamwork all around, Carbon won the series 3-1 and guaranteed themselves a spot in the Championship Match later tonight.

Game 1 was a 3-0 shellacking by Carbon, who dominated Final Boss in what is often named as their best gametype, Midship Bomb. Shockwave planted two bombs and assisted on the third to secure the win, while Karma led all players with a 17-9 individual score. Final Boss continued their Team Slayer dominance over Carbon in the second game of TS Sanctuary. Walshy led his team with a 16-9 ratio and embarrassed the Carbon side by dual-wielding the plasma rifle and pistol for some of his kills.

Carbon just proved that Final Boss is not as invincible as many thought, defeating them 3 – 1 in the Winners Bracket Finals.

Midship Oddball is always an incredibly close match between these two pro-gaming juggernauts and today’s match was no exception. Final Boss and Carbon traded the lead back and forth for most of the game, with FB utilizing their Carbine-side strategy and Carbon pressuring to prevent them from setting up. With under a minute to play, Carbon had built a 30 second lead and it appeared that the game might be over. However, Final Boss killed all four members of Carbon, which allowed Ogre 1 to grab the Oddball and collect enough time to almost catch up with their opponents. Just four seconds behind with six left in the match, Ogre 1 was killed and Final Boss was unable to recover the Oddball in time to win.

With the series score at 2-1, the teams headed to CTF Warlock for Game 4. While this is widely believed to be Carbon’s best gametype, Final Boss soundly defeated them 5-1 when they met on it in the Meadowlands. Final Boss captured the first flag early in the match, but Carbon answered back just minutes later to tie the score at one. After a series of near-caps from both sides, Ogre 2 grabbed the camo and the Carbon flag. His teammates assisted him in killing all four Carbon members and they were able to run the flag back to make the score 2-1. Shockwave became the hero of the Carbon side with time running out. He grabbed the Final Boss flag and managed to get it across the top-middle platform while under heavy fire. He tossed it into the base and Carbon was able to score with just 12 seconds to go to force overtime. Building on that momentum, Ghost and Karma were able to link up for another cap just minutes into overtime and secure Carbon the victory.

Final Boss will now drop to the Losers Bracket and await the winner of the 5k and FBI The Agency series. The winner in that match will battle with Final Boss in the Losers Bracket Finals for the right to challenge Carbon in the Championship Match. With the $20,000 first-place prize on the line, fans can be sure that all of matches to follow will be some of the best the 2007 Pro Circuit has seen so far. Of course, the only place you can catch all of the action is right here on so make sure to stay with us as the rest of the tournament unfolds.
