The new-look Perfect Storm logged two five-game wins in the first two rounds of the Halo 2 Championship Bracket and continued the pattern in Round 3 against 5k. Few gave Perfect Storm, whose chemistry was, at best, untested, a chance against the tight-knit, longstanding squad of 5k, but Perfect Storm gave the fourth-seeded team all they could handle.

5k jumped to a fast start in Game 1, CTF Midship, winning 5-1. They could not assume a dominating, two-game lead, however, as Perfect Storm rebounded, taking Game 2, Team Slayer Midship, 50-44. With the score 1-1, the series had shrunk to a best of three.

The chemistry of 5k jumped to the forefront of Game 3′s Lockout Oddball affair. The greater part of the action occurred in the bottom of Blue Room and Green Room, where 5k used well-time advances to break any significant ball time for Perfect Storm, while snagging long runs with the ball for themselves. The result was a 5:00-2:33 win that left them just one game from the semifinals of the Winners Bracket.

Perfect Storm would not fade, however, and they regrouped to display superlative team work of their own during CTF Sanctuary. Soviet led the way with a 17-6 game and Perfect Storm pushed to a 3-1 win. The victory extended the match to yet another five-game series for Perfect Storm.

Team Slayer Warlock would decide the victor. From the start, the game was intensely even. The teams traded kills until the game reached the 40s. Perfect Storm led 46-45 and looked in position to close out a win, but 5k produced an amazing run. They snagged five kills in a row to shock Perfect Storm, ending the game 50-46. The win gave them the series and moved them to Round 4 of the Winners Bracket where they will meet Final Boss, who defeated FBI Icon in Round 3.
