Event Format

MLG Call of Duty: Ghosts Winter Invitational Tournament

2014 Call of Duty Ghosts Winter Invitational - Event Format

Regular Season & Playoffs Format

1.   The Event will be separated into a Regular Season and Single Elimination Playoffs Bracket.

2.   The Event will support 8 Teams in the Regular Season.

3.   Each Team will be scheduled to play each other Team twice during the Regular Season for a total of 14 Matches per Team.

4.   Teams will be set to act as the Home Team for 7 Regular Season Matches and as the Away Team for 7 Regular Season Matches.  Teams will be set to act as the Home Team once against each other Team and as the Away Team once against each other Team.

5.   Each Team will accumulate a record of Matches Won and Matches Lost (Standings) at the end of the Regular Season.

6.   Teams finishing 1st-4th in the Regular Season Standings will qualify for the Playoffs.

7.   Teams will be seeded for the Playoffs based on the final Regular Season Standings.

8.   The Semifinal Matches will be set up so that the #1 Team in the Regular Season Standings plays the #4 Team, and the #2 Team plays the #3 Team.

9.   Losing a Match in the Playoffs will result in elimination from the Event.

10. The winner of the Championship Match will win the Event.

Regular Season Standings Tiebreakers

1.   Regular Season Standings ties will be broken using Head to Head Match Winning Percentage (Matches Won vs. Tied Teams / Matches Played vs. Tied Teams).  If there is a tie involving more than two Teams and Head to Head Match Winning Percentage resolves the tie for a Team(s), but leaves at least two Teams tied, the tie that still exists will be broken using Head to Head Match Winning Percentage.

2.   If Head to Head Match Winning Percentage can’t break a tie, Head to Head Game Winning Percentage (Games Won vs. Tied Teams / Games Played vs. Tied Teams) will be used to break the tie.  If there is a tie involving more than two Teams and Head to Head Game Winning Percentage resolves the tie for a Team(s), but leaves at least two Teams tied, the tiebreaking will start over with Head to Head Match Winning Percentage.

3.   If Head to Head Game Winning Percentage can’t break a tie, Overall Game Winning Percentage (Games Won / Games Played) will be used to break the tie.  If there is a tie involving more than two Teams and Overall Game Winning Percentage resolves the tie for a Team(s), but leaves at least two Teams tied, the tiebreaking will start over with Head to Head Match Winning Percentage.

4.   The higher number will win all tiebreakers.

5.   If the aforementioned Tiebreakers can’t break a tie involving only Teams who have qualified for the Playoffs, the tie will be broken randomly.

6.   If the aforementioned Tiebreakers can’t break a tie where a Team(s) will qualify for the Playoffs and a Team(s) won’t qualify for the Playoffs, MLG will add Matches to the Schedule in the form of a Tiebreaker Bracket, in order to break the tie.  The Tiebreaker Bracket will be seeded randomly.

Match Format

1.   All Regular Season Matches will be Best of 5 Games.

2.   All Best of 5 Games Matches will use the Domination Game Mode for Games 1 & 4, the Search & Destroy Game Mode for Games 2 & 5, and the Blitz Game Mode for Game 3.

3.   All Playoffs Matches will be Best of 11 Games.

4.   All Best of 11 Games Matches will use the Domination Game Mode for Games 1, 4, 7 & 10, the Search & Destroy Game Mode for Games 2, 5, 8 & 11, and the Blitz Game Mode for Games 3, 6 & 9.

Registration

1.   There is no Entry Fee for participation in the Event.

19. If an outside Player joins a Round while it is in progress, stays for less than 10 seconds, doesn’t pick up or use a weapon, doesn’t pick up or defuse the bomb, and isn’t injured, the Round must continue.

Game Type Vetoes, Game Type Choices & Host Choices

1.   All Game Type Vetoes, Game Type Choices, and Host Choices must be made prior to the start of a Match.

2.   No Game Type may be played more than once in a Match.

3.   For Regular Season Matches, the Home Team must choose to act as Team A or Team B.  Team A must veto one Game Type first, then Team B must veto two Game Types, then Team A must veto two more Game Types, and then Team B must veto one more Game Type.  Teams must each veto one Blitz Map, one Domination Map, and one Search & Destroy Map.  The vetoed Game Types will not be played in the Match.  Team B must then choose the Game Type for Game 1 from the Domination Maps that weren’t vetoed, and Team A must choose the Game Type for Game 2 from the Search & Destroy Maps that weren’t vetoed.

4.   Host Choices for Regular Season Matches must be conducted after Game Type Vetoes and Game Type Choices, and alternate, starting with Team B.  After both Teams have made two Host Choices, Team B will be set to host the Game that wasn’t chosen.

5.   For Playoffs Matches, the higher seeded Team must choose to act as Team A or Team B.  Team A must choose the Team that will Host 6 Games and the Team that will Host 5 Games.  Team A must also choose the order of Search & Destroy Maps in the Match.  Team B must choose the order of Domination Maps and Blitz Maps in the Match.

6.   Host Choices for Playoffs Matches must be conducted after the order of Game Types has been decided.  The Team that will Host 6 Games must make the first Host choice and after both Teams have made 5 choices, the Team that will Host 6 Games will be set to host the Game wasn’t chosen.

7.   Teams may request that they be allowed to give up their hosting privileges for one or more Games.  The opposing Team must then accept or reject the opportunity to Host that Game(s).

8.   The Team that doesn’t Host a Game must choose to play as Ghosts or Federation for that Game.

Hosting & Custom Games Creation

1.   The Hosting Player should create the Custom Games Lobby.  As the hosting Team changes over the course of a Match, the new hosting Player should leave the Custom Games Lobby and create a new one.

2.   Custom Game Creators who start a Game with the wrong Settings may Forfeit the Game, determined by a Tournament Official.  Players/Teams who quit out of a Game and claim that the wrong Settings were used will Forfeit the Game if they are unable to provide proof to back up their claim.

3.   Teams should play a Host Test Game, for roughly 30 seconds, before a new Host is going to be used, in order to determine if the Host is reasonable.  Host Test Games should be played using a Map that the Teams are not scheduled to play against each other so that Players aren’t confused about whether the Match has officially begun/resumed.

4.   All Players must agree that the Host is reasonable before the start of a Game.  If a reasonable Host can’t be found, the hosting Team’s best Host must be used.

5.   If, after the start of a Game, Host is transferred to a Player who wasn’t designated to be the Game’s Host, the Game must still be played.

6.   If a Player’s connection to the Host becomes unreasonable during a Game, the Game must still be played.  After each Game, either Team may request that a new Host be tested, if the previous Host was unreasonable.

Reporting Results

1.   The winning Team must report the Match results to r.valenzuela.ny@gmail.com within 30 minutes of its completion.  To report the Match results, Teams must report the Match Score (3-0, 3-1, or 3-2).

2.   In order to get a Forfeit Win, when a Team fails to attend a Match, a Team must contact a Tournament Official at the end of the Grace Period.

3.   Teams should contact a Tournament Official if they encounter any problems setting up or playing a Match.

4.   If a Tournament Official is called into a Custom Games Lobby, Players must keep them un-muted at all times and comply with their instructions.
