League of Legends Arena: August 3-5, NYC

Watch all VOD from the Event!

Congratulations to Azubu Blaze, our Summer League of Legends Arena Champions! The team dominated the competition at the first-ever MLG LoL Arena, sweeping through Curse NATeam Black, and fan favorites Solo Mid on their way to the $10,000 1st Place prize.  Azubu Blaze's appearance at the Arena marked the first time a Korean team has ever competed in a LoL tournament outside of Korea, and to say they made a splash would be an understatement. Solo Mid take home 2nd Place, Curse NA 3rd, and the scrappy bacon lovers of Team Black will take home 4th Place and the memories of an irreplaceable LAN experience.

Check out the stats from the Arena on ELOBUFF.com.

Solo Mid and Curse will also be competing at the Summer Championship in Raleigh on August 24-26. Take a look at who else will be there!

2.   Players who purchase a Starcraft 2, Mortal Kombat, or Soul Calibur V Player Pass will be automatically entered into their Event.

3.   League of Legends Teams may have one Coach.  Coaches will not be allowed in any other Events.  Coaches must be confirmed in Team Builder prior to the start of the League of Legends Event.  After the start of that Event, Teams without a confirmed Coach won’t be allowed to add a Coach or compete with a Coach in the Event and Teams with a confirmed Coach won’t be allowed to change their Coach or compete with a different Coach in the Event.

4.   Prior to the Team Builder Lock, Players and Coaches will be allowed to join and leave League of Legends Teams, in Team Builder, without restriction.  Also, League of Legends Team Captains will be allowed to make changes to their Team Name and Roster of Players and Coach, in Team Builder, without restriction (See 2012 Summer Championship - League of Legends Event Format).

5.   After the Team Builder Lock, Players and Coaches must submit requests via Team Builder, or make requests at Check-In, in order to make changes to their League of Legends Team’s Roster of Players and Coach.  Players and Coaches who are confirmed on a League of Legends Team will be allowed to move to another Team if both Team Captains and all Players/Coaches who are switching Teams submit their approval of the changes.  After the Team Builder Lock, Players/Coaches can’t be removed without their approval unless they are deemed to be unable to attend and the change is authorized, at Check-In, by the Commissioner of MLG.

7.   Individuals may not register or compete as a Player in two Summer Championship Events whose Event Schedules overlap.

8.   Individuals may not register or compete as both a Player and a Coach in the League of Legends Event.

9.   Individuals may not register or compete as a Coach of more than one Team in the League of Legends Event.

League of Legends – Event Format

Summer League of Legends Arena - August 3-5 - NYC

Summer Arena Format

1.   The Event will support as many as 4 Teams.

 2.   The Event will consist of Round Robin Play and a Final Match.

Match Format

1.   All Round Robin Matches will consist of 3 Games, even if one Team wins the first 2 Games.

2.   The Final Match will be Best of 3 Games.  The winner of the Final Match will win the Event.

3.   The “Extended Series” rule will not link Round Robin Matches with the Final Match.

Round Robin Format

1.   Teams will play one Match against each of the other Teams.

2.   Round Robin Ranking (1st-4th) will be determined using each Team’s Record of Matches won and lost.  Ties will be broken using the following Tiebreakers in this order: Head to Head Match Winning Percentage (Matches Won vs. Tied Teams / Matches Played vs. Tied Teams), Head to Head Games Winning Percentage (Games Won vs. Tied Teams / Games Played vs. Tied Teams), Round Robin Games Winning Percentage (Round Robin Games Won / Round Robin Games Played), and Average Victory Time (Combined Game Time in Round Robin Games Won / Round Robin Games Won.  If there is a tie involving more than two Teams and one of the Tiebreakers resolves the tie for a Team(s), but leaves at least two Teams tied, resolution of the tie that still exists will start over with Head to Head Match Winning Percentage.  If Head to Head Match Winning Percentage, Head to Head Games Winning Percentage, or Round Robin Games Winning Percentage is used to break a tie, the higher number will win the Tiebreaker.  If Average Victory Time is used to break a tie, the lower number will win the Tiebreaker.

3.   Average Victory Time won’t be used to break a tie that would result in the elimination of a Team(s).  The following procedures will be used for such ties.  Average Victory Time will be used to set a One Game Playoff(s).  If three Teams are tied for 1st Place, in the Round Robin Standings, the Team with the lowest Average Victory Time will advance to the Final Match and the other two Teams will play one Game, with the winner advancing to the Final Match and the loser being eliminated from the Event.  If three Teams are tied for 2nd Place, in the Round Robin Standings, Average Victory Time will be used to rank the Tied Teams for a One Game Playoff Ladder.  The lowest ranked Tied Team will play the next highest ranked Tied Team in one Game.  The loser of the Game will be eliminated from the Event and the winner of the Game will move on to play the highest ranked Tied Team in one Game, with the winner of that Game advancing to the Final Match and the loser being eliminated from the Event.

4.   The Teams finishing 1st-2nd in the Round Robin Standings will advance to the Final Match.  The Teams finishing 3rd-4th in the Round Robin Standings will be eliminated from the Event.

1.   Only Invited and Qualified Teams may participate in the Event.
